Another Dangerous Artificial Sweetener - Splenda
Tuesday, September 9th, 2008Splenda is currently the nation’s number one selling artificial sweetener. Splenda is found in over 4,500 products available in supermarkets and restaurants. A shocking large number of “natural” health products contain Splenda. Many manufacturers are turning away from Aspartame because of the health concerns and the controversy surrounding it.
Splenda is the brand name for sucralose, a chlorinated artificial sugar derivative up to six hundred times sweeter than sugar, with no calories and no carbohydrates. It was discovered while trying to create a new insecticide. It becomes an organochlorine in the body. This is toxic and mainly affects your brain, heart and lungs and can accumulate in organ tissues that are high in fat, such as your brain.
As with the other artificial sweeteners before it, Splenda has not been throughly tested for safety.
