Another Dangerous Artificial Sweetener - Splenda

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Splenda is currently the nation’s number one selling artificial sweetener.  Splenda is found in over 4,500 products available in supermarkets and restaurants.  A shocking large number of “natural” health products contain Splenda.  Many manufacturers are turning away from Aspartame because of the health concerns and the controversy surrounding it.

Splenda is the brand name for sucralose, a chlorinated artificial sugar derivative up to six hundred times sweeter than sugar, with no calories and no carbohydrates.  It was discovered while trying to create a new insecticide.  It becomes an organochlorine in the body.  This is toxic and mainly affects your brain, heart and lungs and can accumulate in organ tissues that are high in fat, such as your brain.

As with the other artificial sweeteners before it, Splenda has not been throughly tested for safety.

Sucralose, Splenda, digestion can cause:  liver toxicity; depletion of gluathione (ability to detoxify); genetic changes; binding to the DNA of the liver and small intestine; enlarged livers in rat fetuses even at the lowest possible dose; low-birth weight in rat offspring; maternal and fetal toxicity; shrunken thymus in rats; enlarged colon in rats; shrunken ovaries in rats; abnormal liver cells in rats, and more.

Reported side effects from Sucralose:  Rashes; Wheezing, cough, shortness of breath; dry mouth; swelling of face, eyelids, tongue or throat; headaches and migraines; stuffy nose, runny nose, sneezing; red bloodshot eyes, swollen eyes; bloating, gas, pain, constipation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; chest pains, palpitations or heart fluttering; joint pains; seizures, anxiety; anger; panic; insomnia; dizziness; depression; mood swings; blood disorders; night sweats and numbness of the limbs.

A great natural sugar replacement is STEVIA!

Aspartame - A Dangerous Food Additive

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Aspartame is an artificial sweetener known as NutraSweet or Equal.  It contains methanol, a wood alcohol which is a deadly poison.  Aspartame was approved based on 112 studies submitted to the FDA.  All of these studies were paid for and funded by the drug company who was the manufacturer.  The FDA has received more complaints from people who have consumed aspartame and has had major negative side effects than any other approved food, yet it still is on the market and consumed by millions of people, including children.

It is considered a neurotoxin and has been linked to brain tumors, seizures, cancer, heart failure, cellular damage, headaches, depression, brain damage, migraines, epilepsy, vision impairment, and weight gain.  Other side effects include: vomiting, nausea, convulsions, fatique, weakness, sleep problems/insomnia, change in heart rate, dizziness/poor equilibrium, hallucination, abdominal pain and cramps, diarrhea, memory loss, rash, hives, change in mood, and seizures.

Aspartame has been shown to cause holes in the brains of rats.  This is why neurological symptoms are so common in aspartame users.  This chemical has no place in our diet, especially foods targeted to children.

Aspartame is known as the “world’s best ant poison”.  Sprinkle packets of the sweetener where there are ants and it kills them. For some small black ants mix it with apple juice.  They take it back to the nest and all will be dead within 24 hours.  How does it work?  Aspartame is a neuropoison.  It most likely kills the ants by interfering with their nervous system.

Aspartame produces methanol and methanol is metabolically converted into formaldehyde, which is five thousand times more potent a poison than ethyl alcohol.  This can cause chronic methanol poisoning.  In 1999, the Western Journal of Medicine had a report suggesting that since formaldehyde is a known inducer of cancer, because it alters DNA, anyone with breast and prostate cancer consuming aspartame should be concerned.  The article also showed a graph of breast cancer and prostate cancer incidence against that of the rising consumption of aspartame.
